Odion Ighalo banned from training ground due to coronavirus fears

Manchester United’s January deadline day signing Odion Ighalo has been banned from the club’s training ground since his arrival from China.

The Nigerian striker is currently not allowed to step foot in United’s Carrington training complex due to fears over the coronavirus outbreak.

While Ighalo is still within the mandated 14-day incubation period issued to travellers from China, he has and will be training in a separate location in Manchester with a personal trainer. United consider it a necessary precaution to take in order to protect staff and players from any chance of infection.

Ighalo did not travel from Wuhan – the city where the coronavirus originated – and it is understood that the chance of the Nigerian striker having been exposed to the illness is ‘statistically minute’
