The Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Dr Olayide Adelami, has been honoured as the Most Outstanding Deputy Governor of the Year 2026 by the Nigerian Consensus and Awareness for Bola Ahmed Tinubu 2027, an All Progressives Congress (APC) support group.

The award was presented by the group, which comprises party stalwarts, professionals and other prominent Nigerians committed to mobilising support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general election.

Presenting the award, the group’s Director of Mobilisation and Legal Adviser, Professor Lucky Worika, said the recognition was in appreciation of Dr Adelami’s outstanding record in public service, commitment to good governance and consistent support for the APC.

Professor Worika noted that the Deputy Governor had distinguished himself through years of dedicated service, integrity and contributions to humanity, describing him as a patriotic leader whose public service career had remained exemplary.

He explained that the recognition also reflected Dr Adelami’s contributions to political mobilisation and efforts towards strengthening support for President Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

The group further acknowledged the cordial working relationship between Dr Adelami and Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, noting that their cooperation had contributed significantly to political stability and harmonious governance in Ondo State.

It observed that the Deputy Governor’s ability to maintain a productive relationship with his principal demonstrated political maturity and commitment to the collective interest of the state, particularly in an environment where disagreements over political power could sometimes undermine governance.

In his response, Dr Adelami expressed appreciation to the organisation for finding him worthy of the recognition, describing the award as an encouragement to remain committed to public service and the development of Ondo State.

He dedicated the honour to his principal, Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, whom he commended for providing an enabling platform for him to contribute meaningfully to governance and the overall development of the state and the country.

The Deputy Governor also praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his determination to implement economic reforms, describing the administration’s policy decisions as difficult but necessary steps towards rebuilding the economy and establishing a foundation for sustainable national growth.

He urged political support groups across the country to strengthen their mobilisation activities and intensify grassroots engagement ahead of the 2027 general election.

Dr Adelami reaffirmed his commitment to public service and expressed support for the President’s re-election aspiration, while encouraging party members and supporters to remain united in pursuit of their political objectives.

The recognition adds to the public profile of the Ondo State Deputy Governor, whose role in the Aiyedatiwa administration has continued to attract attention, particularly in the areas of political coordination, governance and public service.
