The Ondo State Radiovision Corporation (OSRC) Media Group has reiterated its commitment to strengthening its operations, upgrading its facilities and sustaining quality broadcasting services to effectively inform, educate and entertain the people of Ondo State.

The Director-General/Chief Executive of OSRC, Mr. Kenneth Odunsola-Stevenson, gave the assurance when the Ondo State House of Assembly Committee on Information paid an oversight visit to the Corporation.

The delegation, led by the Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Olatunji Ifabiyi, was received by the management of OSRC at the Corporation’s headquarters, where the two sides engaged in discussions on the achievements, challenges and future development of the media organisation.

Giving an overview of the progress recorded by the Corporation under his leadership, the Director-General highlighted several initiatives and achievements, including the reconnection of OSRC to the National Grid, provision and installation of Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems, completion of the OSRC Marketing House at Oke-Eda and the promotion of staff, among other milestones.

Mr. Odunsola-Stevenson explained that the interventions had contributed significantly to improving the Corporation’s operational capacity and creating a more conducive environment for staff to discharge their responsibilities.

He, however, stressed that more still needed to be done, particularly in the areas of infrastructure, modern broadcast equipment and sustainable funding, to enable OSRC compete favourably in the rapidly evolving media industry.

The DG therefore appealed to the House Committee to support the Corporation by drawing the attention of the State Government to the need for further investment in the Corporation’s facilities and improved funding.

According to him, adequate funding and modern equipment are essential to sustaining uninterrupted broadcasting, improving content production and ensuring that OSRC continues to serve as a reliable platform for information dissemination and public enlightenment.

Responding, the Chairman of the House Committee on Information, Hon. Olatunji Ifabiyi, commended the management of OSRC for the progress recorded by the Corporation.

He acknowledged the visible improvements and efforts being made by the management to reposition the Corporation, assuring that the Committee would carefully consider the issues raised during the visit.

Hon. Ifabiyi said the Committee would take up the concerns of OSRC and present them to the appropriate authorities for necessary consideration and possible intervention.

Other members of the Committee, including Hon. Moyinolorun Ogunwumiju and Hon. Olajide Oguntodu, also commended the management for the progress recorded.

They expressed optimism that with continued support from the government and relevant stakeholders, OSRC would further improve its operations and remain a strong institution for information dissemination, public enlightenment and development communication in Ondo State.

As part of the oversight exercise, the lawmakers inspected some of the Corporation’s facilities, including the live and recording studios, where they were briefed on the operations, equipment and technical processes involved in the production and transmission of programmes.

The visit provided an opportunity for the lawmakers to gain first-hand knowledge of the Corporation’s operational environment, as well as identify areas requiring further government attention and intervention.

The engagement ended on a positive note, with both the House Committee and the management of OSRC expressing their commitment to strengthening the relationship between the legislature and the Corporation.

Both sides also expressed optimism that the collaboration would facilitate greater institutional support, improve the Corporation’s operational capacity and ultimately enhance its ability to provide effective and quality broadcasting services to the people of Ondo State.
