The Police Service Commission has appointed CP Johnson Ayodeji Babalola as the new Commissioner of Police for Ondo State, following a redeployment of four senior police officers to state commands.

Babalola, formerly Commissioner of Police, Special Inquiry, Force Headquarters, Abuja, was posted to Ondo after interviews to assess the officers’ fitness and suitability for their new roles.

The PSC announced the appointment on Thursday at its headquarters in Abuja, where it also posted CPs to Plateau, Enugu and Nasarawa states.

The Commission said the appointments were made in line with Section 215(1)(b) of the 1999 Constitution, which empowers it to appoint Commissioners of Police for each state and the Federal Capital Territory.

PSC Chairman, DIG Hashimu Salihu Argungu, said the officers were found worthy in learning and character after the screening exercise.

Represented by Board Member Justice Paul Adamu Galumje, he urged the new Commissioners to be impartial and meet the expectations of their offices.

The other newly posted officers are CP Sunday J. A. Okoebor to Plateau, CP Fidelis Ogarabe to Enugu, and CP Sheikh Mohammed Danko to Nasarawa.

Babalola’s deployment places him in charge of policing and security coordination across Ondo State.
