A Federal High Court in Lagos has granted Nollywood actress, Doris Ogala, bail of 30 million naira over alleged cyberstalking involving Pastor Chris Okafor, while restraining her from harassing or intimidating prosecution witnesses.

Justice Akintayo Aluko granted the bail on Friday, with two sureties in like sum, as part of the conditions for her release.

Ogala is facing a four-count charge bordering on the alleged publication of the cleric’s intimate photographs without consent, circulation of damaging allegations and the use of electronic communications to threaten and harass him.

The prosecution also accused her of attempting to extort the pastor by threatening further publications unless he compensated her or bought her a house.

In his ruling, Justice Aluko ordered the actress to refrain from making electronic publications capable of exposing prosecution witnesses to harassment, threats, intimidation or public ridicule.

The judge also directed her to surrender her international passport, maintain good behaviour and avoid any form of misconduct in the courtroom or its premises.

He explained that the conditions were necessary to protect prosecution witnesses and preserve the integrity of the judicial process, while recognising the defendant’s constitutional right to liberty and presumption of innocence.

The court ordered that one of the sureties must own a verifiable property in Lagos State or be a prominent national officer of a political party or a person of repute.

Ogala is to be released from custody upon fulfilling the bail conditions.

The case was adjourned until March 25, 2027, for trial.
