With the 2027 general elections gradually drawing closer, registered voters across Ondo State are taking a crucial step beyond voter registration by ensuring that their names, personal details and Permanent Voter Cards are in order.

Osrc Reports that at registration centres across the state, many voters have been verifying their entries in the preliminary voters’ register, collecting available Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), and raising claims or objections where errors are discovered.

The exercise, organised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), is taking place across the state’s 203 wards. It gives voters an opportunity to confirm that their information is correctly captured before the register is finalised.

For some voters, the visit ended with relief as they successfully verified their details and collected their PVCs. Others, however, left without their cards after discovering that the documents were not yet available.

Many remained hopeful that the cards would soon be released for collection at INEC offices in their local government areas.

The Head of Voter Education and Publicity at INEC Ondo State, Olayinka Ogunseye, said the commission had continued to receive responses from voters since the display of the preliminary register began. He urged eligible voters to take advantage of the exercise before it ends.

The display of the voters’ register is scheduled to close on October 16.

However, INEC says the collection of available PVCs will continue afterwards at its offices across the various local government areas.

Electoral stakeholders say the exercise is important because a voter’s ability to participate effectively in an election depends not only on being registered, but also on having accurate details and an available PVC.

As political activities slowly build towards 2027, the message from INEC to voters in Ondo State is clear, verify your details, correct errors where necessary, collect your PVC and safeguard your opportunity to vote.
