The rate at which Nigerians tend to play up negativity about the nation has drawn the anger of the Central Bank Governor, Olayemi Cardoso.
Cardoso described Nigerians as their own worst enemies for displaying such attributes.
The apex bank chief who said despite such attribute of not seeing good things about the country, the external reserves climbed to $55.1 billion, the highest level in 18 years.
In his words….“I hate to say something, but I will say it. I think Nigerians tend to perhaps be their worst enemies.
The good things that we see, we want to trash away, is the bad things that we want to push out. Unfortunately, in this case, it’s nothing bad”.
Mr. Cardoso expressed the view points at the IMF–World Bank Annual Meetings in Bangkok.
He said early policy reforms had strengthened Nigeria’s ability to withstand global economic shocks, while rising reserves provide a buffer against external pressures and help protect ordinary Nigerians.
