The Joint Revenue Board (JRB) has commended Ondo and Delta States for advancing tax harmonisation, describing their efforts as important steps towards a fairer and more business-friendly tax system in Nigeria.

The board commended the Ondo State House of Assembly for passing the Ondo State Harmonised Tax Bill, while also applauding the Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for signing the state’s Tax Harmonisation Bill into law.

In a statement the JRB said the achievements by both states would help strengthen tax administration at the subnational level and reduce the burden of multiple taxation on residents and businesses.

According to the board, effective harmonisation would improve voluntary tax compliance, enhance transparency, and support sustainable revenue generation for states.

The JRB added that a simplified and efficient tax system would create a more predictable environment for businesses while strengthening Nigeria’s broader revenue framework.

“Together, we are building a simpler, fairer and more efficient tax system for all Nigerians,” the board stated.
