Guber Primary: Ondo APC dismisses claims of no election

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State has dismissed the report that primary election did not hold in the State. The party described the report as shocking and lacks credibility.

For the records, election took place in all the 18 local government areas in the State. There were agitations in Ifedore and Ilaje Local Government areas. While the results in the entire Ifedore Local Government were cancelled, that of Ilaje affected about four Wards, that were also cancelled.

The essence of such cancellations was to emphasis the validity of the entire process, and lend credence to fairness.

The voting strength of our members in the affected areas were no substantial enough to dent the credibility of the process, nor affect the margin with which the candidate emerged.

The party therefore doubts the authenticity of the report, credited to an agent of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The State chapter cautions against needless desperation on the part of some members, who have vowed “to do everything possible to discredit the process”.

The party urged its teeming supporters to discountenance the spurious report and focus on the bigger task ahead: to win the governorship election and retain the Sunshine State for APC.

ONDO GOVT REVISITS OWENA DAM, PROMISES IMPROVED WATER SUPPLY

  • As Gov Aiyedatiwa orders rehabilitation of water facilities

The Ondo State Government, under the leadership of Governor Lucky Orimisan Ayedatiwa, has reiterated its commitment to providing safe and potable water for residents of the State.

This was made known by the Hon. Commissioner for Water Resources, Public Sanitation and Hygiene, Hon. Sunday Akinwalire, during his inspection visit to Water projects and facilities in the Central Senatorial District of the State at the weekend.

Governor Aiyedatiwa had ordered all relevant government agencies to introduce necessary measures and expertise for the provision of potable water from the facility and many others in the State, within the shortest period of time.

The Owena Multipurpose Dam in Ifedore Local Government area of the State, was the first point of call. The construction of Owena Multipurpose Dam, with 36 million cube reservoir capacity, began in November 1998, completed 2014 and was put to test and ever since, efforts have been on, to ensure that the facility is in full operation.

Other places that were visited included Owena Igbara Oke/Igbara Odo water supply scheme and Owena Ondo Dam.

The Commissioner went round the water projects in company of some principal officers in the ministry, including the Administrative Secretary, Mrs Victory Adetoye, the General Manager, Water Corporation, Engr. Remigius Ogunjobi, the Resident Engineer, Oluwole Samuel and others.

According to the Engineer, the Owena Dam, which is about 27 meters deep, has the capacity of providing potable water, as well as serving irrigation and power generation purposes.

While reacting, the Commissioner, Hon. Sunday Akinwalire, said Governor Aiyedatiwa directed that the needed necessary attention should be given to the project and the efforts are now in motion.

He stressed that thousands of households are expected to benefit from the project as soon as possible, giving the assurance of government’s commitment to the well-being of the people of the State.

GOV AIYEDATIWA PAYS TRIBUTES TO LATE DR PAUL AKINTELURE AT FUNERAL

Ondo State Governor, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has described the late Dr. Paul Akintelure as a man of integrity who made profound impact on his community and everyone who came across him.

Dr. Akintelure, a former APC governorship aspirant in the State and deputy governorship candidate of the defunct ACN in 2012,
passed away on March 26, 2024, at the age of 61, leaving behind wife and four children.

Attending the funeral mass of the deceased on Friday at St. Pius Catholic Church in Igbotako, Okitipupa local government area, Governor Aiyedatiwa said the ceremony was a celebration of Akintelure’s remarkable life rather than a time for mourning.

The Governor lauded Akintelure’s exceptional contributions to the development of Igbotako, stressing his roles as a medical doctor, a community leader, and a committed political figure, whose impact extended beyond measure.

The governor said: “We are gathered here to honour and celebrate the life of Akintelure, a cherished son of Igbotako. While his passing brings us sorrow, we find solace in knowing that he is now in God’s embrace, as the scriptures remind us that what is precious in His eyes may cause us pain.

“Akintelure lived a commendable life, leaving a lasting impact. His commitment to saving lives and serving humanity is evident in the countless individuals he has touched. As a fellow member of the same political party, I extend my heartfelt condolences. May God grant comfort to his immediate family.”

In his sermon earlier, Rev. Fr. Clement Odia urged attendees to emulate Akintelure’s legacy of compassion and generosity. He depicted Akintelure as a devoted family man and a selfless helper, advocating for the continuation of his noble principles and values by his family.

Representing the family, Dr. Akintade Akintelure expressed profound gratitude for the support received during the challenging period, while also soliciting prayers for the family’s fortitude.
