The Federal Government has disbursed N38.93 billion to 166 public tertiary institutions across the country under the Needs Assessment Revitalisation Fund.

The intervention is aimed at addressing critical infrastructure deficits and improving teaching and learning facilities in universities, polytechnics and colleges of education.

According to the Federal Ministry of Finance, N28.5 billion was released to 79 universities, while N5.8 billion went to 46 polytechnics and N4.7 billion to 41 colleges of education.

The Ministry said the funds would enable beneficiary institutions to commence or advance approved projects in line with the Memorandum of Understanding signed with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

It explained that the overall objective is to strengthen educational infrastructure and improve institutional capacity across the country.

The Ministry noted that the intervention reflects the Federal Government’s commitment to revitalising the tertiary education sector and creating a more conducive learning environment for students and staff.

With the release of the funds, beneficiary institutions are expected to prioritise projects that will address pressing infrastructure needs and enhance the quality of teaching and learning.
