The Akure South Local Government has arraigned Adebola Alonge, a cow-skin dealer, before the Chief Magistrate and Environmental Court in Alagbaka, Akure, over alleged violations of environmental laws at her ponmo processing facility.
The council says the case will be pursued diligently to protect consumers and deter others.
The matter followed reports from residents about the facility on Igboliki Street, where officials said they observed unhygienic practices during an environmental inspection.
The facility had reportedly operated in the area for more than 21 years.
At the court sitting, the prosecution presented the suspect and sought an order to remand her pending hearing. The suspect had no legal representation in court.
Presiding Magistrate Afolashade Ayemo ordered that Alonge be remanded at the Correctional Centre and adjourned the case to November 9, 2026, for hearing.
