The Ondo State Government has ordered that all illegal structures such as shops and kiosks around fences of primary and secondary schools in the state should be removed voluntarily by their owners within seven days or risk being dismantled by government.
Briefing Government House Correspondents shortly after the weekly State Executive Council meeting, Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Bamidele Ademola-Olateju stated that the council ordered that in the next 7 days owners of the structures should dismantle them, otherwise they will be dismantled by government.
The Information and Orientation Commissioner stated that the council frowned at the act having identified some schools across the state having beer parlours, night clubs among others.
The commissioner stated that “Council reiterated that the incidents of Lassa fever have increased in the state noting from history that there are flash points along Owo and Ose local government areas most especially.”
She emphasized that the council decided that people should be more circumspect in their handling of food stuffs such as garri, yam flour and Cassava flour that are processed.
Bamidele-Olateju said a new strain of deadly flu has been found in China, “hence council decided that the people should be reminded to practice personal hygiene and watching of hands regularly.”
