The Kano State Fire Service has confirmed that five people lost their lives in a boat accident at Kanwa Dam in Madobi Local Government Area of the state.
Public Relations Officer of the agency, Saminu Abdullahi, explained that the boat conveying 11 people capsized leading to the death of five while 6 people were rescued alive.
He highlighted that, the agency received a distress call from one Umar Faruk-Dalada, at about 05:40 pm
“There are 11 persons on the boat, but six were rescued alive, while five were rescued in an unconscious state”
Saminu maintained that, the deceased who are indegenea of Fagge local government area include Abdulrazak Navara, Dalha Muktar Atamma, Mustapha Ibrahim, Umar Isah and Umar Idris.
The public relations officer pointed out that investigations into the boat mishap had commenced, and charged the public to maintain safety at all times.
