The Interim Management Committee (IMC) has fulfilled all financial obligations to the 20 clubs that participated in the 2022/23 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season as money promised the clubs were paid before the start of the season.

As at Thursday, June 15, NPFL champions, Enyimba International have been asked to provide their account details for the remittance of the ₦100m prize money they won for coming top of the league.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the IMC disbursed the sum of ₦200m at ₦10m each to the clubs in January after the ceremonial presentation and before the season commenced”, explained Davidson Owumi, the Head of Operations who was reacting to malicious insinuations in a section of the media.

“The ₦200m shared equally by the clubs represented a start up grant considering the strain on the clubs to commence the season in January when most states were just getting their budgets passed”.

“If there is any money that hasn’t been paid, it is the ₦100m prize money for Enyimba and they have been asked to provide banking details for the remittance”, the IMC Officer further explained.

The IMC said it is aware of the machinations to discredit the body by some of those who benefited from the failed system using some unscrupulous media agents.

“We are focused on achieving a complete turnaround of the league and will not be distracted by the activities of those who are bent on dragging the league back from recent progress we made”, he remarked.

In the just concluded season, IMC ensured that referees and other match officials were paid their indemnities before traveling for games. They enjoyed a 60 percent increase in the indemnities and 40 percent jerk up in travel fares.

The IMC also ensured that they were protected in the cause of officiating matches while few instances of breach of security were swiftly dealt with.
