Member representing Owan West state Constituency, Mr Blessing Agbebaku has been elected speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly.
His election followed a motion moved to that effect by member representing Eghor State Constituency, Ms Natasha Osawaru.
Also the member representing Esan North East two, Mrs Maria Edekor emerged as the deputy speaker.
The speaker and his deputy were sole candidates for the positions.
After the speaker and his deputy had been sworn in, the speaker thereafter administered oath of office on other members of the house.
In a vote of thanks, the speaker, Mr Agbebaku appreciated his colleagues for supporting him to occupy the position and promised to treat all the members equally.
