Sunshine Stars, Remo Stars, Gombe United and Kano Pillars have received various degrees of punishment for breach of rules and framework of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) on matchday 17.
NPFL charged table toppers Remo Stars who it accused of failure to provide adequate security in the game against Sunshine Stars, last weekend.
Consequently, Remo will pay N1 million as fine and also ordered to deploy a more effective security arrangement in their remaining home matches.
On their part, Sunshine’s goalkeeper Abdullateef Ishola is suspended for the next 3 matches for reacting violently to a ball boy.
The books were also thrown at Gombe United for failure to provide adequate security in their clash with Rivers United, with their fans throwing objects onto the pitch & assault of match officials after the game.
Organisers of NPFL also said Pillars were in breach for misconduct of their fans leading to a delay in transmission of a live broadcast of their game against Plateau United as well as their supporters throwing objects onto the pitch in protest against the decision of a match official.
For disruption of the live telecast, Pillars will pay a N10 million fine, N1 million for repeated offence of throwing missiles onto the pitch and another N1 million for acts capable of bringing the game into disrepute.
A N250,000 fine, being compensation, will be paid to assistant referee Sodiq Adejumo for injuries sustained, while Pillars will play their next home match(es) at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano before the mid-season break without fans.
All four clubs have within 48 hours of the notice of sanctions to appeal.
