The Ondo State government has interfaced with farmers and stakeholders in the Ofosu and idanre forest reserves to be on the same page as investors take over part of the reserves for palm oil plantations.
At a meeting in Akure, the state capital, Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, said the move is in furtherance of his government’s efforts at improving the state’s agribusiness for economic growth.
OSRC’s Richard Ilésanmí reports that the governor, who allayed the farmers’ fears of possible eviction from the forests, said they will benefit more from the new arrangement through job opportunities.
