The Ondo State Government has commenced the year 2023 promotion exercise for public servants in the State.

Speaking while flagging off the exercise, the state Head of Service, Kayode Ogundele, called on the officers to always ensure efficient service delivery in their beats as performance appraisal would henceforth be based on their inputs.

According to him, the only way officers could reciprocated the huge investment of the present administration in the welfare of workers is to put their best into the system.

Ogundele appreciated Gov. Akeredolu for yearly approving the promotion of deserving officers with the attendant financial benefits despite the daunting economic challenges.

In his words, ‘The exercise is in pursuit of the commitment of this present administration to ensuring that workers are well motivated, that workers are giving their dues and that workers have no reason to shark with their responsibilities.’

‘We give thanks to God for giving us a governor that has the mind of God and that has the love of the people. In fact for some years now, we have gone beyond the level of carrying files every year wanting seek special approval again. This one is already given. Mr Governor has given his commitment that on no account should people who are due for promotion should be denied and so the ball is always in our court and not in the court of Mr Governor,’ he added.

‘Having enjoyed all these, we should know that to who much is given, much is required. I must confess, the quality of your work requires you improve on the services you render.’

‘We are going to begin to measure your productivity, your efficiency based on your output. We are already looking for a way to make our performance appraisal to be more objective, he further stated.

Earlier in her remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Office of Establishment and Training, Mrs Funke Dare-Atuse, lauded Gov. Akeredolu promoting officers and paying the due financial benefits.

According to her, this is different from what obtains in some states of federation where workers may be promoted but would still be receiving salaries on the old grade levels.
