Sunshine Stars have clinched the bronze medal at the NPFL/La Liga Under 15 Promise tournament in Ikenne, Ogun State.
The youngers defeated El Kanemi Warriors 1-0 in the Third Place tie after both sides had lost their semi-final matches.
Precious Olaniyo scored the only goal to record his fourth of the tournament
The Ondo State team had lost by a lone goal to Plateau United while Remo Stars Beyond Limit Academy took the better of the Warriors in their respective Semi-final matches.
The South-West regional bragging right was won by Sunshine Stars when they met Shooting Stars, Ibadan in the Quarter-Final.
Sunshine Stars coach Sade Akinrolabu commended his boys for rising up to the occasion against a tough opposition.
“I am delighted that we were able to edge out the young Warriors from Maiduguri today. I appreciate the never-say-die attitude of my boys. This is the first time Sunshine Stars would clinch a medal at this level so I am happy.”
