The Nigeria Police and the Fire Service have commenced investigations to ascertain cause of the inferno which gutted the Inec office at Kauran Namoda Local Government Area in Zamfara state.
National Commissioner and Chairman Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye in a release said the Commission received the report of the fire incident late Monday night with no record of casually while critical materials such as Permanent Voters’ Cards( PVCs) and registration machine for the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration ( CVR) stored in fire- proof cabinet were preserved.
Okoye however said the building was heavily damaged including fixed and movable furniture,despite efforts by the Zamfara state fire service and good samaritans
According to him, the Police is expected to advise INEC, upon the completion of their investigation on the next line of action.
