Digitalization crucial for effective civil service- Akeredolu tells HOS in Southwest States

The efficiency of the civil service determines the effectiveness of any government. Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu spoke while declaring open the 2022 Southwest Heads of Service strategic meeting held at the International Culture and Event center in Akure. Government House correspondent Timilehin Falade reports that the summit has as its theme “Rethinking Civil Service in a Digital World”.

Happening now……ASUU strike updates: LAUTECH directs Staff and students to resume academic activities next week.

Authorities of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH, have directed staff and students to resume academic activities.

It is an indication that the university has withdrawn from the ongoing strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities.

The directive was contained in a statement by the Registrar, Kayode A. Ogunleye .

The University will therefore continue its academic activities for the First Semester of the 2021/2022 Academic Session next week Thursday, May 26, 2022.

It further reads that the amended Academic Calendar for the semester will soon be made available urging
Staff and students to abide with this directive.

How rain is slowing down road constructions in Ondo

Many ongoing road projects in Ondo state may suffer setback this rainy season as their constructions are affected by downpours. A visit of some road projects in Akure, the state capital, shows that downpours are slowing their construction work, thereby extending their delivery dates. OSRC’s Richard Ilesanmi, who visited Oda and òjòlá road dualization projects however reports that contractors are taking advantage of the little break to advance their work.

Ifira community celebrates age grade with elevation of qualified indigenes

The traditional age class system in Yoruba culture, which created a unique bond of brotherhood and promote peaceful coexistence for community development, was recently exhibited in Ifira, a city in Akoko Southwest Local Government Area of Ondo State. Aboriginal people from far and wide returned to the ancient community to celebrate as septuagenarians and sexagenarians were elevated to different ladders of the age grade system OSRC’s Zaheed Aribisala reports that the ceremony, known locally as ‘Idagbasoke’, takes place once in seven years.
